Size of glasses, a series of numbers similar to these: 52, 18, 122

Usually, on the inner side of the eyeglass temples, you can read a series of numbers similar to these: 52, 18, 122.

These numbers correspond to:

  • Lens width or "caliber" (in this case 52 mm): indicates the horizontal diameter of the lens at its widest point.
  • Bridge width (in this case 18 mm): the bridge is the part of the frame that rests on the nose, and its measurement indicates the minimum distance between the two lenses.
  • Temple length (in this case 122 mm): the temples hold the glasses on your face and are measured from the hinge to the end.
  • Lens height: this measurement indicates the height of the lens vertically.

Small size, medium size and large size, how to measure it so that it fits your face.

Many models of glasses are available in sizes, small size, medium size and large size,
depending on the size of each person's face. This is the case with Emblema glasses, for example. If you don't know how to choose your size, here is a simple guide to locate it.

You can measure your face in a few steps, using a credit card. It's definitely an alternative way, but it works: the height measurement of a credit card is very similar to the width measurement of a standard lens.

Set yourself up in front of the mirror or the front camera of your phone and place the long side of the credit card in the center of your nose, the short side under your eye. And find out your size.

  • A If the card’s edge ends past the edge of your eye, or slightly beyond, your size is standard.
  • B If it reaches well past the end of the eye, you should opt for a small size.
  • C If the credit card does not reach the end of the eye, then choose a large size.
